Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Solo-Vehicle Crash near Bishop Street

SANTA ANA, CA (April 25, 2024) – One woman died Sunday morning in a DUI crash on Main Street and West Bishop Street.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at approximately 2:08 a.m., responding to reports of a southbound truck losing control and colliding with a palm tree before hitting a nearby pole. The Orange County Fire Authority transported the three occupants of the vehicle to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, the front female passenger succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the rear male passenger and the male driver sustained non life-threatening injuries. Upon investigation, authorities determined that the male driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. Consequently, he was arrested on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The SAPD Collision Investigations Unit is now urging any witnesses of the fatal South Main Street DUI crash to come forward and assist with inquiries by contacting Detective Corporal D.
