So far this summer, the club scene is...whatever you want it to be. Be it indoor or outdoor, goth or groove, retro or nouveau, there's even more to do than usual around town. Here are this week's boogie bests.

We've heard of week-long birthday celebrations, but Club Underground has been working its 10 year anniversary for several months now, with themed parties. This week the focus is on two Manchester treasures, with The Stone Roses vs. Happy Mondays. DJs Larry G (aka Supergrass), Diana Barraza (Sweater Girls) and Clifton Weaver (Funky Soul) spin the 24 hour party people sounds. At the Echo, 1822 Sunset Blvd. http://clubunderground.wordpress.com/

Sat., July 23

No Shirt/No Shoes from dubFrequency/dFm continues its Summer run at the Standard Downtown rooftop, showcasing a diverse roster of DJ guests. This Saturday they've got DJ Viceroy & Miguel De La Barracuda, of the much-beloved lifestyle brand and retail hub De LA Barracuda. Expect everything from electro to indie rock to Latin beats at this outdoor soiree. No Shirt/No Shoes residents Bixel Boys, Tropicool, and Surf Ambassador Hendo spin as well. 1-7 p.m. 550 S. Flower St., www.thedfm.com.

Our prescription for a heart-pumping Saturday evening on the dark side is Bar Sinister's Medical Night. Presented by Purgatory -- the pleasure (and pain) packed playroom upstairs at the club -- this event is sure to bring out the naughty nurses, demonic doctors, sexy candy stripers, and "operation patients gone wrong." Yikes. Bondage performances on the main stage by Miss Nikki Nefarious, Pro Domme Miss Drea Deville, Purgatory's Lady Sheeva, and more. DJs Amanda Jones & Satoki spin all your favorite dark, industrial and gothic grinds. $5 (half off) cover all night for those dressed according to the theme. At Boardner's, 1652 N Cherokee Ave. 10 p.m.-2:30 a.m. www.barsinister.net

KCRW DJs and the station's favorite bands provide the soundtrack for this year's Bloom Fest, a downtown gathering celebrating "all things a'bloomin' in the Downtown Arts District," which is to say the art, the music, and even the streets and building themselves. Named in honor of community activist Joel Bloom, who died in 2007, the free fest promises a spirit that some might say has been lost in other big Downtown L.A. outdoor events. DJs from the station include Raul Campos, Anthony Valadez, and Mario Cotto, and the bands include Love Grenades, Grouplove, Voxhaul Broadcast, Bullet & Snowfox, Hello Vegas and Raul Pacheco & The Little Bastards. 2-10 p.m. Downtown Arts District of Los Angeles (centered at 3rd Street and Traction Avenue); free. www.bloomfestla.com

Sexy Time with DJ Moist. The title kind of says it all, huh? Imagine a hot date followed by an invitation upstairs for a drink afterwards, right before he or she puts on the perfect jam to get you in the mood. The club specializes in old school, R&B & hip hop jams with a hot and bothered vibe, like D'Angelo, Bobby Brown, Mary J, and SWV, etc. Summertime should be the right time for this party; it goes from monthly to weekly starting tonight. Come early for a copy of Moist's Sexy Time Vol III Summer 2011 mixtape. At La Cita, 336 S. Hill St.. http://twitter.com/#!/therealdjmoist

Wed., July 27

The new weekly party called Soul Purpose sees Club Giant & OM Records stepping a bit out of their elements, promising the "best in funk, soul, disco, & downtempo, spun by weekly guest DJs and surprise special guests." Should fit in well inside the sophisticated-yet-relaxing environs of Hemingway's, our current favorite bar. 6356 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd. Free with RSVP to www.giantclub.com/soulpurpose.
