FYF Fest announced their 2011 line-up today, excellently headlined on Labor Day Weekend by Descendents and featuring the return of Guided By Voices and some interesting second-billed bands. (Dead Milkmen?!) FYF, which will be partnering with Goldenvoice and moving downtown after a short stint in the L.A. State Historic Park, also promises "last year's issues" with lines, water and food availability will be addressed, thanks to a price cap on water, better regulated entry and 300% more food vendors. Tickets go on sale Friday.

But that's not all--and that's not NSFW, either!

In conjunction with the FYF announcement, L.A. RECORD (which includes me) and FYF teamed up to make a little booklet with bands telling stories of all kinds, from hilarious (thanks, Dan Deacon) to horrific (thanks, Dan Deacon). The idea is to catch a little of the spirit of the fest with something more than just the usual band interviews.

This thing is print-only, so if you want to learn about how and where the Dead Milkmen got beat up or the secret source for Off!'s Steve McDonald's bell bottoms or what actually happened the day Descendents' fishing boat ran out of gas by Catalina--"It was a little Lord Of The Flies," says Bill Stevenson--then all your computer will be good for is being melted down into its component petrochemicals so you can maybe squeeze enough combustible fuel out of it to make a trip to the real world happen. (The FYF Army will be distributing this thing all over L.A., so go look for it!)

However ... below you'll find the infamous WHERE'S THE LOVE, DAD? comic, the true story of Preston Olson and the time he woke up naked in jail in Eugene, Oregon. (Spoiler: acid.) Drawn by Pop Noir's Luke McGarry for maximum accuracy--including excerpts from the actual police report--this is a quick peek at a special little souvenir for FYF fans. NSFW-if-you-are-offended-by-frequent-cartoon-genitalia presentation!
