Hey gang--guess what popular West Coast Sound feature is back? The Word Cloud! The 'Cloud has been M.I.A. for a few months, but we're restarting this Friday tradition with a great one--as per usual very suitable for making stencils and T-shirt iron-ons.

For those of you with memories obliterated by medical marijuana, The Word Cloud was a feature started by former LA Weekly music editor Randall Roberts where lyrics from iconic Los Angeles Albums are fed through an ingenious online device called Wordle, which then spits out a pretty image of all the words in the song. (You can see previous examples of albums by Black Flag, Beach Boys, Guns n Roses, NWA, etc. here.)

Now we offer for your viewing pleasure one of the most iconic LA albums ever: Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking.

The colorful contestants (many of whom opted for elaborate codpieces) were judged by comedians Kristen Schaal and the Sklar Brothers. The top score was awarded to crowd-surfing guitarist Kingslayer, the mother of a teenage son who also competed wearing little more than an American flag bathing suit. All photos by Gustavo Turner.
