Yeah, we'd say so. The L.A. trio's modest frontwoman and their modest little album Crazy for You have been all the rage in 2010. Her music has been embraced by everyone from kids to hipsters to NPR ("Morning Becomes Eclectic" today at 11:15, kids). There have been sold-out shows, festival appearances, fans hanging on Cosentino's every tweet and, recently, a collaboration with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo on a song called "Go Away."
There are two dates supporting Weezer at the Gibson Amphitheatre coming up too, but first Best Coast has a couple of sold-out homecoming dates, Saturday and Sunday at the Troubadour.
Other highlights: Fistful of Mercy (the new collaboration between Joseph Arthur, Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison) do sold-out shows Saturday at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. ... NYC indie-pop darlings the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, joined by Weekend and Sonny & The Sunsets, headline the Echoplex. ... Junip, the trio featuring Swedish singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez and two of his longtime friends, plays the Music Box on Sunday, supported by Sharon Von Etten.
