No, 2010 has been all about the tightly wound indie-rock music on the foursome's self-titled debut, released on Kemado back in February and celebrated with a flurry of 10 shows over a 13-hour period around the Los Angeles area.
Since then, they've played underground venues, venerable clubs, the FYF Fest, a raucously good set in the blazing hot sun on the big stage at Lollapalooza and, now, a six-week tour with Philadelphia indie-rocker Kurt Vile.
The penultimate date of that tour is tonight at the Echoplex.
Elsewhere tonight: Beat-scene all-star Nosaj Thing debuts his eye-popping visuals headlines the El Rey Theatre, supported by Toro y Moi and Jogger. ... Dean Wareham performs music from the three Galaxie 500 albums (Today, On Fire and This Is Our Music, all released between 1988 and '90) at the Troubadour. ... And Cursive's Tim Kasher plays the Bootleg Theater behind The Game of Monogamy, his solo album on Saddle Creek Records.
