Japanese duo Boom Boom Satellites have been churning out their stadium-sized electro rock for two decades now, but except for big-beat enthusiasts who probably have some of their albums shelved with Fatboy Slim and the Prodigy and fans who discovered their music in video games, they've never become a big deal outside their homeland.

It hasn't affected their swagger. Singer-guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima and programmer-bassist Masayuki Nakano wield their Flying V weapons like rock stars as they bathe crowds in riffs, reverb and lights.

Their latest release To the Loveless is at turns screeching and bruising, a worthy follow-up to 2007's Exposed, and they are on a rare U.S. tour with you-have-to-see-her-to-believe-her live drummer Yoko Fukuda in tow. Boom Boom Satellites perform tonight at the Troubadour.

Elsewhere: UNKLE, which this summer released its fifth studio album Where Did the Night Fall and last month dropped an EP, The Answer, featuring a cool collaboration with Lupe Fiasco, plays its first L.A. date in more than three years at the El Rey Theatre. Sleepy Sun opens. ... And JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys (led by the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde and Welsh singer-songwriter JP Jones) headline the House of Blues

Also: Justin Beiber at Staples Center; Juliette Commagere and Aqualung at It's a School Night at Bardot; Jessie Baylin and Richard Swift at the Bootleg Theater; the Wellspring at the Hotel Cafe; Phil Alvin at the Redwood Bar; White Pulp at the Viper Room; Bilal's free in-store (7 p.m.) at Amoeba; and the finales of three October residencies -- Wet & Reckless at the Silverlake Lounge (with Rumspringa, LA Font and Olin and the Moon); Radars to the Sky at Spaceland (with Torches in Trees) and Even Voytas at the Echo (with Lesands).
