UPDATE: This item was originally posted last night. The time stamp has been adjusted. The show is TONIGHT, Thursday, April 1. No fooling.

New York-based folkie Elvis Perkins will be popping into Echo Park tonight to headline a benefit show honoring local artist/Gallery 2023 founder Tommy Mose Abbott.

The five-dollar bill (up to 15 if you're feeling generous) looks to be quite exceptional all the way through, with the Petrojvic Blasting Co. opening, and the Dough-Rollers, Dorian Wood and Frank Fairfield supporting.

An all-star marching band ho-down (a.k.a. the most epic cake-walk you've ever known) is almost guaranteed at this point.

Oh, and the venue is 2 Headed Horse, which is the HQ of a couple of skate/film/comedy types who've done considerable work with Fuel TV. West Coast Sound hears one of them knows how to juggle dangerous things.

So what happened to Abbott?

Well, the unfortunate bloke not only broke his leg, but he's been evicted from his own live/work gallery. The Downtown-based Gallery 2023 hosted a lot of great art and music events in its time, not to mention a monthly midnight drawing salon.

2 Headed Horse is located at 1770 N. Glendale Blvd. Doors are at 8 p.m., music at 9.

This clip, which includes performances by the Dough-Rollers' Malcolm Ford and Frank Fairfield, was recorded at 2023 in December. That makes it both a fair preview of tonight's gig, and a bittersweet send-off to an excellent art space that seemed to have a vibrant future.

While we're at it, here are two more clips from Gallery 2023.
