Poisoning the Well

An elegant force on the local contemporary dance scene, choreographer Monica Favand Campagna (yes, she’s added a third name) and her troupe, TRIP Dance Theatre, return with their newest production. Drawn from today’s headlines — snowstorms on the East Coast, drought spreading across the Southwest, dire predictions from U.N. scientists on the planet’s future — Poisoning the Well considers the consequences of human-triggered climate change on other humans, animal life and the environment. Her dancers — Denesa Chan, Andriana Mitchell, Tomas Tamayo and Taryn Wayne — are backed by original music performed live by Charlie Campagna, Andy Tabb and Hector Torres. But it’s not all doom and gloom: Craig Ng and Chan and Tamayo provide what’s described as “outlandish comedic theater.” Unknown Theater, 1110 N. Seward St., Hlywd.; Fri.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 6 p.m.; thru April 29; $24 at door or by phone, $18 online. (323) 466-7781 or www.unknowntheater.com.
