National Seafood Month kicked off on the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, Oct. 6, and brought together more than 20 local restaurants for the fourth annual Off the Hook Seafood Festival to benefit Heal the Bay. Participating restaurants included Gladstone’s, the Lobster, Chaya Venice and Blue Plate Oysterette.
About 1,000 seafood lovers came together for live music, oyster shucking, libations and lots of sustainable goodies from the ocean blue. One hundred percent paper products, straws, plates, cups and utensils were used to further Heal the Bay’s mission of lowering the environmental impact.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. served shrimp mac and cheese, Del Frisco’s Grille made ahi tuna tacos and 1212 Santa Monica offered the wild but perfect combo of tuna carpaccio, avocado crema and truffle soy topped with Parmesan shavings.
