Unidentified Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Accident on Sedge Creek Road Southwest

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 16, 2024) – One motorcyclist died Saturday night and a driver was injured in a 2-vehicle crash on 86th Street.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on March 30th, police rushed to the area near Sedge Creek Road Southwest following a collision report. According to initial accounts, a Nissan sedan was stopped at Sedge Creek Road, intending to make a left turn onto northbound 86th Street. During the turn, a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling south on 86th Street collided with the sedan’s driver-side rear door.

Medics later pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the sedan driver to a nearby hospital to address minor injuries.

Emergency responders closed off the vicinity temporarily to facilitate cleanup and preliminary procedures.

Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of those involved. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision on 86th Street remains ongoing under the purview of APD.
