Eric Schlosser Speaks at Occidental

Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser returns to Los Angeles to receive and honorary doctoral degree and give a lecture about the very big business of food: "Fast Food Nation Revisited: The Link Between Food Justice, Worker Justice, and Immigrant Justice."

1886 Birthday Party

The diminutive Pasadena cocktail bar celebrates its first birthday, which coincides with the anniversary of the original Grand Dedication Ball at The Raymond Hotel in 1886. A ticket gets you cocktails, wine, craft beer, appetizers and desserts.

Cheese Store of Silverlake 10th Anniversary

The popular Silver Lake cheese store celebrates a decade of success with a day of deals and discounts: 10% off purchases all day (except wine). Every purchase over $100 enters you in a raffle to win a tote bag full of gourmet goodies, and every purchase over $10 enters you in a raffle to win a bottle of wine. After the store officially closes at 6 p.m., there's a party with charcuterie, wine and, naturally, cheese.
