When a new bar is about to open in Hollywood, we can't help but imagine the scene in Back to the Future III when Marty McFly gets his coffin size measured before a showdown with Mad Dog Tannen. With such a high turnaround it's no surprise that, after less than two years of business, Essex Public House near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue is now closed. Also in line with Hollywood tradition, the void must be filled. Boulevard Tavern, co-owned by Hunter Hensley, opens Thursday, April 28th. But we're warned to expect somewhat of a construction site. Hensley and Kris Keith of Spacecraft Group are revamping the space with larger TVs, a brighter interior and a more spacious look.

The simplistic menu will consist of burgers, salads and other bar-food type dishes for $10 and under, as well as tap and craft beers. Starting hours are 4 p.m.-2 a.m. on weekdays and noon-2 a.m. on the weekends. Construction, done only during off-hours, is slated to be completed by July.
