Many here in Los Angeles were perplexed when the LAUSD refused to let British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver into their schools to film season 2 of his Food Revolution show. Banned from the cafeterias of this city's public schools, Oliver staged a campaign -- in the press, on Facebook, in a tomato suit -- to change the district's collective mind. It did not work, and Oliver wrapped the filming recently, without ever resolving the standoff. What exactly we'll see when the ABC series airs later on this year is anyone's guess. Maybe Project Runway: Tomato Suit Edition.

But what were the LAUSD's real reasons? It turns out they were far more complex than simply not wanting the chef and his TV cameras filming a bunch of schoolkids eating lunch.
