Combining food and film is something we're particularly good at in this town (just ask Wolfgang Puck). Tomorrow night, February 19th, art historian and chef Maite Gomez-Rejón combines a class on Mexican cuisine with clips from the film Like Water for Chocolate. Learn how to make chiles en Nogada, chicken with rose petal sauce, and Mexican chocolate cake while you watch Alfonso Arau's Academy Award-winning film, which is based on the Laura Esquivel novel.

The class is part of the Dinner and a Movie series of Gomez-Rejón's ArtBites concept, which she founded two years ago to synthesize history and food. Gomez-Rejón has worked in the education departments of the Met, the Getty Villa and LACMA, has catered for Aerosmith and KISS, and has appeared on the Food Network show Ready, Set, Cook! The class is $75 per person, which includes ingredients, recipes, aprons and wine with dinner. Registration is required; there is no age requirement, though underage participants must be accompanied by an adult. Register at the ArtBites website.
