This puts her ahead of both Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto, and Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Vol. 1, which are in the 2 and 3 spots. Silverstone's book is also number one on The New York Times bestseller list, in the 'hardcover advice' category, ahead of The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin, and Child's Mastering the Art, Vol. 1. Silverstone is a vegan, and her cookbook is a vegan guide, in which she divides potential adherents into three separate levels: Flirt, Vegan and Superhero. Once in a Batman movie, always in a Batman movie, I guess. Silverstone also has a blog, The Kind Life, which is, as Silverstone describes it, "an interactive extension of my book, 'The Kind Diet', which is about living your healthiest and happiest life to the fullest, while taking care of mama Earth at the same time!" In addition to her numerous film roles, Silverstone was voted Sexiest Female Vegetarian by PETA in 2004.
