At Reopening Party for Weho Caviar Seller Petrossian: Redefining the New "Affordable" Luxury Trend for Recessionary Times

Recession? What recession? This once might have been the attitude at a famous caviar purveyor like Petrossian Boutique & Café, but times keep changing. There was a time when phrases such as "economic downturn" would have had no place at the West Hollywood outpost of the exclusive luxury-edibles seller, but Petrossian quietly re-opened its Robertson Boulevard boutique about a month ago with a new look and attitude designed to attract a broader clientele.

David Davis of Studio Davis designed the Robertson Boulevard space to house a relatively casual café and retail area plus communal tasting tables. The overall vibe is compatible with adjacent cool-as-icy-cucumber contemporary storefronts and wares like Kartell and Diva, rather than a haute bourgeois grandma's drawing room.

The dashingly mustachioed Armen Petrossian and Alexandre Petrossian were in the mix at a reception for their renovated namesake shop on Wednesday to celebrate the reopening and mark the brand's twentieth anniversary on the West Coast.

Dishes served all day and evening in the café range in price from $9 to $28, and caviar-centric dishes are $24 and up. The chef is an alumnus of L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Vegas. Ooh la la.
