So what do you serve people before they get served tons of grilled cheese sandwiches? Why, grilled cheese sandwiches of course! They were kind of like palate cleansers / appetizers. They were very straight forward sandwiches created by the Kraft folks -- kind of like a warm-up, or stretching - before competing in the main event.
