World's Largest BLT, Built in Ohio
600 pounds of bacon, 440 pounds of bread, 550 pounds of tomatoes, 220 heads of iceberg lettuce, 110 pounds of butter and 60 gallons of mayonnaise. That's what it took to construct the largest BLT ever created by humans, reports CBS St. Louis.
The sandwich, which weighed in at 224 feet x 17 inches, was sponsored by St. Louis restaurant Iron Barley. Restaurant owner Tom Coghill is hoping the sandwich earns a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records. He figures it blew away the current record-holding BLT, which measures 209 feet x 6 inches. Somebody get us a plane ticket and a napkin.
