Westside Food Fest: Music and Food Trucks at Venice High
A fundraiser catering alternative
The new wave of food trucks in Los Angeles has changed the dynamic of our city's dining scene. The clearest winners from all of this, it seems, have been the everyday office workers, who suddenly have an array of new, interesting, and relatively inexpensive lunch options, often parked directly outside their building. But another victor seems to have emerged, in the form of non-profit charities.
On Saturday, July 31st, Achievable (a community non-profit working to improve the lives of those with developmental disabilities) is hosting their Westside Food Fest at Venice High, featuring live music, as well as raffle prizes. But now, thanks to these new trucks, the food part of an event such as this has more appeal, with less hassle. These independent businesses can now easily provide their own kitchen, chefs, and a unique menu, simply by driving over. A mere $5 entry fee for Westside Food Fest allows you to enjoy live music for a good cause, with better and more varied foods than you'll find at most concert venues. For a list of trucks, turn the page.
Currently confirmed trucks for the event include Ahn-Joo, Fishlips Sushi, Greasy Wiener, India Jones, Mandoline Grill, Munchie Machine, Papas Tapas, Phamish, SliceTruck, Tropical Shave Ice, and Vizzi Truck.
Visit Achievable's website to learn more about the organization, to donate directly, or to buy tickets for the upcoming event.
Westside Food Fest is Saturday, July 31st, from noon-4pm at Venice High: 13000 Venice Boulevard, L.A.
