Wanna Be A Sushi Chef? Enter Ocean & Vine's "How You Roll" Sushi Creation Contest
Always dreamed of being a sushi chef? Or, at the very least, do you think you have a recipe for a killer sushi roll? If so, get out your at-home sushi kits, wasabi powder, ginger root, nori and whatever else you put into your sushi masterpiece and get to work, because you've got until Monday, November 15th to submit your roll into the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel's "How You Roll" sushi-creation contest.
Listen, we love sushi probably more than the next guy. But staples like crunchy rice topped with spicy tuna and salmon avocado rolls are a bit outdated. Tempura-fried well, anything, has become typical. And please, it's time to remove fake "krab" from the sushi menu. So instead of praying to the sushi gods to revamp their raw fish repertoire, we're taking the sushi knife by the handle and coming up with our own sushi creations to enter into the "How You Roll" contest.
Good news is that entering the contest is pretty straight-forward. There's no tasting panel or presentation criteria required; just a good idea, great ingredients and a snazzy name. Interested? Check out Loews' How You Roll website and submit before Nov. 15. If you win, your sushi roll will get added to Ocean & Vine Sushi at Sunset's December sushi bar menu. And as if a month of sushi fame isn't enough, you'll also get to spend one night in a fancy-schmancy room at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel and dinner for two at Ocean & Vine.
