Update: When we said Go Burger was "slated to open in the next two weeks," we actually meant this morning, because that's when the burger joint makes its debut in Hollywood. The doors will swing open at 11 a.m., so you can start your Tuesday with a burger stuffed between two grilled cheese sandwiches, a side duck-fat fries or fried pickles, and a milkshake spiked with Kahlua and/or rum. Lucky you.

When did Hollywood become the burger vortex? Joining Umami, Stout, Juicy Burger, The Bowery and Hungry Cat--all within a few blocks of each other--comes Go Burger, the latest from the BLT Restaurant Group. It's slated to open within the next two weeks.

This is an offshoot of BLT Burger, only with a name change because the LT in the equation--Laurent Tourondel--split with the restaurant group last year. There was actually a nationwide naming contest held last spring, and Go Burger won out.

The new burger joint joins the new Bodega Wine Bar, Tender Greens and Chipotle at the Sunset Vine Tower (the big green building at Sunset and Vine), giving this corner more life than an In-N-Out drive-thru. The space is modern and sleek, with a large bar inside and huge patio out back that Arclight-goers will find hard to resist.

With executive chef Rodelio Aglibot (opening chef of Koi and Chicago's Sunda) overseeing the menu, and chef de cuisine Kayson Chong in the kitchen, expect high-end burgers (priced $7 to $15) and sides, a full cocktail menu in addition to beer and wine, and ... wait for it ... spiked milkshakes. Yes, milkshakes with alcohol. That's almost better than a beer float.

Similar to the BLT Burger menu in Las Vegas and New York, the patties will be made with a proprietary Black Angus blend (sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket). You can choose your toppings or get one of the Go creations, like the Ultimelt--a beef patty, caramelized onions and bacon sandwiched between two rye-and-gruyere grilled cheese sandwiches. That's right, just like Friendly's artery-clogging Burgermelt, but made with better ingredients.

Other menu items include fried chicken, salmon, turkey and falafel burgers, a Snake River Farms smoked Kobe beef hotdog, and sides like duck-fat fries, Vidalia onion rings and spicy barbecued corn. It's not really heart-smart, but there is a Tender Greens next door should you want to keep things light.

Training has been going on over the last few days, but the hard-open date hasn't been set. Reps say definitely this month, "closer to the end." Oh, and for you East Coasters wondering when your Go Burger will open in NYC, we're told "around the same time."
