Put on your oldest, grubbiest red t-shirt for what promises to be Southern California's largest fruit fight. Throw tomatoes with wild abandon, but remember: All tomato acceleration such as water balloon launchers, tennis ball throwers and rackets are banned.

Bob's Big Boy 2nd Anniversary
The in Bob's Big Boy in Downey -- the one with the gorgeous Googie architecture, rebuilt from the ashes of Johnie's Broiler (the fantastic Fat Boy sign is still in the parking lot) -- Festivities include a classic car show, a pin-up contest and a Hot Wheels race as well as $2.22 hamburger and fries.

Savory Ice Cream and Sorbet Class

Home Coffee Roasting Class
Master roaster Ian Riley of LAMILL Coffee teaches you how to roast, brew and taste coffee using basic inexpensive stovetop equipment. Go home with your freshly roasted beans and a stash of green ones to with practice at home. Registration required.

Taste of Abbot Kinney
