Vegan Pizza Day
June 29 is Vegan Pizza Day and, in commemoration, chef Erick Simmons will offer five pizza options -- four savory and one sweet -- for $10 each at Mohawk Bend. The menu will include Green Goddess, a pizza topped with roasted garlic, scallions, olives, green beans, arugula and fresh herbs. For dessert, there's a peach (pizza) pie, with roasted peaches, raspberries and cashew cream.

Taste at the Grove
The Grove has planned a full day of tastings and cooking demos in anticipation of Restaurant Week. Chefs from restaurants at the Grove and in the surrounding neighborhoods (Roxana Julapat at Cooks County; Neal Fraser of BLD and Fritzi Dog) will share their cooking tips onstage throughout the day. There also will be a tasting from restaurants at the retail complex from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for $20 per person.

Waves of Grain Beer Fest
Forty-plus breweries will offer samples of their ales at Shade Hotel, the Manhattan Beach boutique hotel named by Condé Nast's Traveler as a top reason to visit Los Angeles. A ticket provides access to tastes from breweries like Angel City Brewery, Brouwerij West, Noble Ale Works, Deschutes, Firestone, Smog City and the Bruery. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Richstone Family Center.
