If you're a fan of ABC's reality dancing competition Dancing With The Stars, most likely you're accustomed to its blinding bedazzled outfits, bantering between the judges and contestants' complaints about blisters, sore muscles and bruised egos. But one thing that seemingly doesn't enter the ballroom? Any mention of food. Just when we were starting to worry that craft services doesn't make an appearance at the Beverly Boulevard studio, on Tuesday night two of the professional dancers admitted that food is a big part of their pre-dance rituals. For which we are grateful.

Louis Van Amstel, a professional dancer partnered with comedienne Margaret Cho, took cameras to the craft service table where he practically inhaled a huge piece of chocolate cake. "I have to have my chocolate cake. I have to, because if not, I don't really feel prepared." Van Amstel made short work of the cake, announcing, "Now I'm ready."
Professional dancer Lacey Schwimmer, now in her third season with the show said, "Ever since my first season [on Dancing With The Stars] my mom would drive in from Arizona and make me her special chocolate chip cookies and I can't dance without them. I have to have one before every show." Sitting in her trailer Schwimmer then revealed a Tupperware container filled with the chunky cookies to the camera and exclaimed, "You know you want one. You really do."
Ironically, Lacey seems to have a double-standard when it comes to her pre-dance ritual versus that of her partner, nineteen-year-old Disney Channel star Kyle Massey, whom she has placed on a diet. After their first dance on Monday evening, the show's co-host Brooke Burke said to Massey, "I hear Lacey has you on a pretty strict fitness regimen. How's that going?" To which Massey replied, "Not going very well; I just had a pizza. And I might have another pizza tomorrow!" Right.
Dancing With The Stars airs on Mondays 8|7c and Tuesdays 9|8c on ABC.
