For its opening night last night, Curtis Nysmith's SmithHouse had prompt service, food served hot (not overcooked, soggy or half-missing) and what seemed like an endless supply of beer. Attracting a mostly early-30s crowd, the new Westside gastropub is the latest addition to Century City's dining scene. Taking the place of former Japanese restaurant Kula and Lunaria before that, SmithHouse is doing something that businesses in that location haven't done before: offer free valet with a text-your-driver-to-fetch-your-car system while you pay the tab, and more than 120 beers on tap.

We're not certain about the entire menu, but judging by the hot wings smothered in Frank's RedHot sauce and the beer fondue with warm jumbo soft pretzels, Top Chef Angelo Sosa is headed in the right direction. Though, according to a waiter, Sosa has not appeared at SmithHouse because "he's very busy with his New York restaurant."

Capitalizing on their happy hour from 3-7 p.m., waiters give diners an option of purchasing additional pretzels for $1 each due to the overwhelming amount of fondue and underwhelming amount of carbs to scoop it up with. BYOP?
