Rite Aid/Thrifty Unveils New Ice Cream: Just in Time for National Ice Cream Day

Rite Aid: Chocolate Malted Krunch Ice Cream in a Cone

Our love for Rite Aid/Thrifty's array of cheap ice cream, specifically their Chocolate Malted Krunch, is well established. The strange cylindrical scoops are probably the best $1.69 you'll spend all summer.

Now, in honor of National Ice Cream Day on July 17th (a holiday created by President Ronald Reagan in 1984), the drugstore chain will unveil several new flavors over the course of the summer.

Due to popular demand, Circus Cookies, the pink-and-white-iced feature flavor from April, will join the standard lineup of approximately 25 flavors.

In July, Rite Aid will introduce apricot and mango sherbets, and in August, a key lime cheesecake.

They're also introducing their first ever nonfat frozen yogurt , ice cream sandwiches and take-home pint containers that cost $2.29.
