On the Fourth Thursday of February, BreadBar Gave to Me...

The city of Los Angeles leans toward Thursday night. Those who are too tired to cook but crave civilized comfort food can depend on Campanile's weekly grilled cheese night. Every week, the museums downtown are free on Thursday evenings, and open long enough for those making their way back across town to wind down with a Rothko after work. The second Thursday of every month, a school of food trucks hovers in downtown's gallery district and 5th and Main crawls with an art (and free wine) enthusiastic crowd that two years ago would never have pattered down its sidewalks. On the third Thursday, there's the Japanese pop dance club, Tune in Tokyo at 2nd Street Jazz--great excuse for late night izakaya. And on the fourth Thursday, there's BreadBar's Hatchi Guest Chef Series, started by Chef Nori of Ironori Concepts.

BreadBar

Hatchi means the number 8 in Japanese, and the small plates series includes eight plates (six savory, six sweet) for $8 each. On February 25, from 6-10 pm, Iso Rabins (founder of forageSF and The Wild Kitchen) curates "Forage," a dinner of wild boar, radishes, sea beans, wild nettles, and acorns. All you have to do is show up hungry and you'll likely leave with the inspiration to forage for yourself on Friday.

BreadBar: 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard R-2, Century City; (310) 277-3770. Reservations recommended.
