How do you make a summer concert at the Hollywood Bowl an even better experience? By offering plant-based, dairy-free dishes from Gracias Madre and Cafe Gratitude, now available at the venue through a deal struck by Patina Restaurant Group — the business responsible for all food served at the Bowl for the past 16 years.
That means vegans no longer have to eat berries and nuts while watching a fireworks show. And as a plus, the dishes sound like someone has put real thought into them.
All-organic, vegan menus will be featured at Rooftop Grill, Wine Bar, Market Cafe and throughout Box Services, which means diners can partake in Cafe Gratitude's sushi grain bowl with blackened tempeh and sesame wasabi dressing; stuffed avocado with sushi pate on shredded kale; a "BLT" wrap with coconut bacon, tomato and chipotle-cashew aioli; an artisanal vegan charcuterie plate; raw tiramisu; and key lime pie — all while watching, say, Death Cab for Cutie (on July 12).
In addition to selling a la carte dishes and fresh pressed juices, Gracias Madre will tempt concert-goers with pre-packaged picnic baskets — which include two tempeh tortas with black beans, avocado, pico de gallo, pickled cabbage, cashew crema; house-made tortilla chips; guacamole; roasted tomato salsa; pumpkin-seed Caesar salad with cashew Caesar dressing ;and a gluten-free fudge brownie with cinnamon chocolate sauce.
The new vegan dishes are available starting tonight (Lana Del Rey is playing), but the season officially opens June 20 with Journey.
