No Fat Chicks, S'il Vous Plait: Dining with Mme. Giuliano at Petrossian Boutique

French women don't get fat, people say, although they probably never met my 11th-grade French teacher, a daughter of Normandie who could have taken Gorilla Monsoon three falls out of five. The secret, at least as outlined by Merielle Giuliano, the former executive at the Champagne house Veuve Clicquot who wrote the book French Women Don't Get Fat, apparently involves brisk walks, croissants, and plenty of chocolate souffles. Also Champagne, of course. Lots and lots of Champagne.

On Monday, May 3, Mme. Giuliano will be at the Petrossian Boutique & Restaurant in West Hollywood, demonstrating how not to get fat on caviar surprise with king crab, green bean salad with caviar, and a serving or two of Ben Bailley's notorious foie gras terrine, chased by undoubtedly vast quantities of chocolate, butter and Champagne. For $125, you can join her in a three-course, guaranteed nonfattening supper, and take home an autographed copy of her newest book Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire. Does the art of savoir-faire involve both caviar and jeroboams of Champagne? I wouldn't be at all surprised. Reserve at (310) 271-0576.
