This fall, The New School of Cooking is branching out. The Culver City-based cooking, baking and all-things-food school is linking up with some of L.A.'s best chefs and food personalities to create a fall line-up of amazing classes, all of which are available for enrollment now.
Along with the usual full slate of culinary and pastry programs designed to sharpen both professional and home-cooking skills, the New School of Cooking will be working with Sqirl's Jessica Koslow, Ari Taymor of Alma fame, and Tin Vuong, the man behind the heat at Abigail in Hermosa Beach and Wildcraft Pizza in Culver City. And you'll find our own Anne Fishbein teaching a photography course or two.
The most anticipated evening probably belongs to Taymor, whose downtown restaurant Alma was named Bon Appétit's best new restaurant in America for 2013. The young chef will spend Sunday, Oct. 20, cooking a chef's table meal for everyone in attendance. That means, for a little more than what you'd pay for an extravagant night out at Alma -- assuming you could even get in -- Taymor will prepare a four-course dinner in front of you, complete with drink pairings.
Other classes include a jam-making session with Koslow for $110 (lunch included), and a $125 night with Vuong where the celebrated chef will pair his small plates cooking with craft beers from the South Bay area.

And if you've ever thought "Man, Anne Fishbein's photos look really great," you can learn from the master herself in a four-part food photography session running through the month of October. The $500 class takes place every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will range in topics from basic photography techniques and composition elements to personal styles and photo editing mastery.
