McDonald's will begin testing all-day breakfast this month in San Diego. If it goes well, we may see all-day breakfast roll out around the country. It's just one more desperate attempt on the part of the fast-food giant to avoid its inevitable tumble into cultural irrelevance.

Now that entertainment awards season is over, food and drink awards season has begun. The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) held its awards last Sunday. This week marked one of the first big awards announcements, with the Food & Wine Best New Chefs awards. There's also a People's Choice Awards component, in which the public are asked to vote for their favorite best new chef. In the California region, Sqirl's Jessica Koslow, Night + Market's Kris Yenbamroong, Alimento's Zach Pollack and Bestia's Ori Menashe (who already won the editor's choice component) are in the running and could use your vote.

Also launching this week is the Tales of the Cocktail nomination process, in which you (yes, you, or anyone) can nominate your favorite bar, bartender, booze book or booze product. These nominations will inform the folks at Tales of the Cocktail for the purposes of their Spirited Awards, considered to be among the most important awards in the industry. All nominations must be made by April 30.

On April 26, Netflix debuts a series from the director of Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Chef's Table is a documentary series, and each of the six episodes will profile a chef at the top of the profession. Representing Los Angeles is Niki Nakayama of n/naka.

If you have a Samsung Smart TV (from 2013 or later), congrats! You can now order pizza through your television. Dominos has launched ordering by TV. The future, kids. It's here.

In L.A. restaurant news: Ray Garcia has opened B.S. Taqueria, Jinya Ramen Bar has opened in Santa Monica, and Moby is opening a vegan restaurant in Silver Lake.
