Man Attempts to Smuggle 14 Pounds of Cocaine Inside Easter Candies
Simone Walsh, over at LA Weekly's blog the Informer, is reporting that a Miami man is due in L.A. federal court today after attempting to smuggle cocaine, "in little pastel candies shaped like Easter eggs," at LAX. It would seem as though his plan has failed.
When Border Protection officers asked the 23-year-old Gates why he was carrying so many of the eggs with him, Gates said that they were for his two kids. We can only hope that he wasn't telling the truth. Gates was in possession of 14 pounds of cocaine (an estimated worth of $100,000), which seems like far too much cocaine for his, or anyone's, children.
