The Cart For A Cause truck rolled into Santa Monica today, featuring the food of Lazy Ox Canteen chef Josef Centeno. It proclaims itself as "the nation's first philanthropic meal truck," helping to feed home-bound senior citizens by providing the rest of us with food from chefs like Josef Centeno. All in all, not a bad deal.
A meal at the truck costs $10, featuring your choice between two of Centeno's famed bäco (pork belly and beef carnitas, or fried shrimp with chive dressing), along with a cookie and a beverage.
Other chefs involved include big names like Walter Manzke (formerly of Church & State), Michael Cimarusti (Providence), Susan Feniger (Street) and Nobu Matsuhisa (Nobu). To find out who's popping up next and where, Cart For a Cause can be followed on Twitter and Facebook.
