L.A. Rocks This Year's James Beard Foundation Nominees

The James Beard Foundation announced their 2015 nominees this morning, and Los Angeles is well represented. The awards themselves will be presented in New York on April 24 (for books and journalism) and Chicago on May 4 (for chefs and restaurants). 

The biggest awards of the year are always the national awards, which recognize the best chefs and restaurants across the U.S. This year, Petit Trois nabbed a nomination for Best New Restaurant, Alma's Ari Taymor is up for Rising Star Chef of the Year, and Suzanne Goin is nominated for Outstanding Chef. Spago is in the running for Best Wine Program and Osteria Mozza's Dahlia Narvaez is nominated in the Outstanding Pastry Chef category. 

In the regional categories, Providence's Michael Cimarusti as well as Animal's Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo are up for Best Chef in the West. 

In the journalism category, the biggest news is really how incredibly well Eater has done this year, racking up an amazing five nominations. Lucky Peach is also well represented, with four nominations, among which is a nom for Lucas Peterson, an occasional contributor to LA Weekly . His piece “Deus X-Mas China” is nominated in the Personal Essay category. Los Angeles Magazine's Lesley Bargar Suter is nominated for Food Coverage in a General-Interest Publication.
