L.A. Craft Beer Crawl: Brewing Sept 25th
Though California is known as wine country, on September 25th, L.A. will be all about beer. The first annual L.A. Craft Beer Crawl is set to take over downtown that day, giving attendees the chance to meander through seven different bars and sample more than 50 microbrews, including the locally-produced Craftsman, Taps, and Ladyface Ale.
The host bars are all owned by Cedd Moses of 213 Ventures: Seven Grand, Cole's, The Varnish, Las Perlas, Casey's, Golden Gopher, Broadway Bar and CAÑA. 213 is one of the event's sponsors, along with The Beer Chicks, Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune, who have curated the day's beer selections, and L.A. Weekly, which has supplied food critic Jonathan Gold to dispatch food trucks to the event (rumor has it Kogi, Manila Machine as well as Ludo Lefebvre will all be in attendance), as well as pair beers with Cole's French Dip sandwiches.
When asked what this event means to Downtown L.A., Moses told us, "downtown L.A. is a magnet for young, savvy imbibers drawn to the vibrancy downtown nightlife offers, and the artisan-crafted spirits and hand-crafted cocktails, this DIY generation loves. The L.A. Craft Beer Crawl provides an opportunity to sample the best of L.A.'s true artisanal taps, taste highly sought after, limited-edition seasonal drafts from borders beyond, and celebrate the revered labels fueling the craft beer revolution."
The event begins at 3 p.m. at Casey's, where participants will receive a 6-ounce tasting glass and a map of the Crawl. Tickets, which can be purchased at the event's website, are $49, or $80 for VIP, which includes beer cocktails at The Varnish, as well as a meet and greet with Jonathan Gold and various local brewers. Proceeds from the Crawl will benefit Heal the Bay. (Heal the Bay's president, Mark Gold, is Jonathan Gold's brother.)
