Silver Lake new favorite Barbrix hosts a happy hour this Friday, but take note that the singular "hour" part is meant literally. Champagne is 50% off on July 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Granted the restaurant wants to get more bodies in the door for a photo shoot, but the kind gesture is appreciated nonetheless.

Barbrix: 2442 Hyperion Ave., Silver Lake, (323) 662-2442.

Yet another specialty drink product gets feted this summer, when Le Palais Gourmet In Beverly Hills celebrates "Matcha Madness" through July and August. The shop will host matcha tastings featuring examples of the ceremonial Japanese powdered tea every Saturday from 12-4:00 p.m., offer discounts on matcha products, and on Thursday July 30 at 6:30 p.m., Kristy Choo of Jin Patisserie will create a matcha-centric menu. ($40 per person, RSVP (310) 271-7922 or info@lepalaisgourmet.com.)

Le Palais Gourmet: 401 N. Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, (310) 271-7922.

The aptly named Piccolo hosts its monthly "Cena al Contrario" next Wednesday, July 29. This reversal dinner -- not to be confused with the pre-wedding ritual meal -- is all about putting wine before food. In other words, diners make their vino selection, and chef Roberto Ivan sends out an appropriate food pairing for each course. Truffles can also be added to each dish. Pick three wines with three dishes for $70, or five and five for $110.

Piccolo: 5 Dudley Ave., Venice, (310) 314-3222.

In addition to the ongoing $15 lunch special at Cecconi's, the L.A. outpost of the swanky London restaurant started hosting family-style dinners by Exec Chef Andrea Cavaliere three nights a week. Roast beef with fontina potatoes, black truffle fondant, mostarda di frutta, arugula and Parmesan is served on Sundays ($34 per person), porchetta with balsamic-drizzled summer beans and peperonata of baked bell peppers, potatoes and onions is available on Mondays ($24), and Dover sole finished with truffle butter or with lemon and capers is Thursday's attraction ($45).

Cecconi's: 8764 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, (310) 432-2000.

Wilshire Restaurant started offering one of the best deals on the Westside, but you gotta time it exactly right. Get $1 martinis between the hour of 10-11:00 p.m. on Thursdays, along with special Thursday lower prices on Wilshire's happy hour late night menu. Check the website for details.

Wilshire Restaurant: 2454 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, (310) 586-1707.
