All-You-Can-Drink Super Bowl Beer Party at Bludso's
taps at Bludso's
As we've reported on more than one occasion, Bludso's Bar-&-Cue in Hollywood is an excellent place to watch the game. Any game, really. Great barbecue, lots of flat-screen televisions on the wall. This will be particularly true for the upcoming Super Bowl, not only because it's going to be a pretty terrific football game (Seattle versus Denver in East Rutherford, N.J.), but because the folks at Bludso's have decided to get you properly drunk for the occasion.
The Super Bowl is also a nostalgic event, as it marked Bludso's soft open a year ago. To mark the anniversary, and also because many people there are rabid football fans, on Super Bowl Sunday, which is Feb. 2, there will be an all-you-can-drink beer party.
For $20 per person, you can get a "ticket" that allows you access to unlimited draft beer during the game. (If you're not drinking, you can get unlimited soda.) Bludso's Noah Galuten says there also will be lots of liquor-based drink specials, perhaps Jell-O shots, and some "goofy things" such as raffling off gift cards between quarters.
Seating will begin as early as 2:30 (kickoff is 3:30 p.m. PST), which means, to quote Galuten, "You get to drink a ton of booze for an hour and then try to not to fall asleep or punch the person sitting next to you before the game starts." (Considering Pete Carroll's long history in this town, not an idle thought.) Galuten also wisely suggests that if you don't have a soda-guzzling friend to drive you home, consider taking Lyft, Uber or other form of sober transportation so that you can enjoy yourself responsibly.
Sadly, Kevin Bludso won't be roasting a pig for the event (maybe if the Cowboys ever make it back to the Super Bowl), but the full menu will be available to help you accomodate all that beer. And if you prefer to do the all-you-can-drink thing at home instead of at your neighborhood barbecue joint, Bludso's full menu will be available to-go before the game. (Pre-orders strongly encouraged.)
