A Fifth Barney's Beanery to Open in Westwood Village
In the original laid back style of Barney's Beanery, there will be no grand opening for its new Westwood location. The fifth branch of the classic American restaurant and bar, which originally opened on historic U.S. Route 66 in 1920, is set to open in about two weeks and will be "newer, bigger and better" than all of the other Barney's that came before it, says A.J. Sacher, regional manager.
Famous for its karaoke, happy hours and bingo nights, the location on Broxton Avenue, replacing Good Earth Restaurant, will be two stories with a large mezzanine overlooking the first floor bar. The Westwood location hopes to attract not only UCLA college students, but everyone in the community, including families and local business people. "Westwood is a fabulous place to be. It's one of the classic neighborhoods in Los Angeles," says Sacher. And as the final stages of construction are speed rolling ahead, the crew is putting together and adding in all of the last-minute details and chotchkies that make Barney's, well Barney's.
Barney's Beanery: 1037 Broxton Avenue, Los Angeles.
