A young man died after collapsing and appearing to experience a seizure at a Southern California rave last weekend, authorities said.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old John Hoang Dihn Vo of San Diego, according to Cynthia Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

"This young man was found in between two of the stages when deputies were flagged down and told that this man was probably having a seizure," she said.

The collapse was reported Friday, the first of two days for Beyond Wonderland at the San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore. Bachman:

This occurred Friday night during the concert. Deputies were flagged down in reference to a male subject possibly having a seizure. Medical aid performed CPR, he was transported and died just after 11 p.m. at the hospital. ... The autopsy was performed Tuesday, cause of death was not determined pending toxicology results.

Vo died at Loma Linda University Medical Center, she said. It could take six to eight weeks to determine if drugs might have been involved.

It reportedly was the second death at the annual event since it moved to Devore from its longtime perch at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino.

Rave promoters have been haunted since the 1990s by a consistent track record of ecstasy-related deaths connected to their events.

Jennifer Forkish, spokeswoman for Beverly Hills–based Insomniac, the Live Nation–affiliated organizer of Beyond Wonderland, said this:

We received the heartbreaking news that a guest of the festival passed away after attending the show. While the cause of his passing will take time to determine, what we do know is that somewhere his family and friends are grieving. To them we extend our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Talent for the event Friday included Tiësto, Carl Cox, Dillon Francis, Green Velvet, John Digweed, Maya Jane Coles and more.

This post was corrected at 3:13 p.m., Friday, March 27. We mistakenly called the event Nocturnal Wonderland. It's Beyond Wonderland. Send feedback and tips to the author. Follow Dennis Romero on Twitter at @dennisjromero. Follow L.A. Weekly News on Twitter at @laweeklynews.
