A woman reported to authorities that she was pulled over on the 405 freeway near Lennox and sexually assaulted by a man claiming to be a law enforcement officer, La Opinion newspaper reported over the weekend. Sheriff's officials say one of their patrol units was involved, but it's not clear if they're investigating one of their own in connection with the claim.
"Apparently a sheriff's patrol [unit] was involved," a sheriff's Lennox station lieutenant told the paper. "We will investigate based on the information she provided us."
The victim, a young woman who only wanted to be identified as Fabiola, said the man stated he pulled her over for speeding but then proceeded to grab her breasts, touch her crotch and kiss her.

She said she was not able to get any identifying information. Both the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are investigating the early Wednesday morning incident.
"We take this matter very seriously," the sheriff's lieutenant said.
The woman, who says she's from the Mexican state of Michoacan, said she was scared because she is an undocumented immigrant.
"That's such an abuse of authority," she said, "knowing that I was afraid."
