Why Did Prop. 19, The Effort To Legalize Pot In California, Fail?
Why did Prop. 19, after all the awareness it raised, after inspiring so many young people to turn out to vote, after turning the world on to California progressive politics -- why did it still fail?
We took a look at the reasons and found that some of the traditional, pro-marijuana groups weren't entirely on-board with pot legalization until late in the game. Not to fear, however:
Those very groups say that 19 made a respectable showing, attracted legitimate political forces to the legalization effort, and will likely inspire another attempt to stop making pot a crime -- this one in 2012. Read all about it here.
