It was the video seen around the world over the holiday weekend.
Twenty-eight-year-old SoCal native Jamie Carrillo says she saved up her courage after years of heartache and finally dialed her old basketball coach at Riverside's Chemawa Middle School. Carrillo calls the woman her "childhood rapist teacher."
A woman who answered the phone, now said to be an Alhambra High School vice principal of student services, not only didn't appear to deny the allegations, she said, "I regret it." Then ...
... she resigned from her gig at Alhambra High.
Administrators there said the vice principal had only been on the job a few months and that they had no idea about her alleged past. In fact, they said, she came with glowing recommendations.
Police in Riverside were looking into the allegations as well. However, as Carrillo acknowledges, the statute of limitations would probably preclude any criminal allegations.
In the video posted Friday, a visibly emotional Carrillo says, "I was only 12 years old when I met you. Do you realize that you brain-washed me and you manipulated me, and what you did was wrong?"
She goes on to say:
You ruined my life. You ruined by childhood ... You sicken me.
The woman she says is her former coach responds by saying, "I just wanted to help you."
"How is having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl help," Carrillo says.
"That wasn't anything I intended," the woman answers.
Yesterday Carrillo and her attorney held a news conference. She claimed that, when she was 12, the educator started kissing her in the girls' locker room and soon progressed to taking her out-of-town to molest her.
Carrillo said she would pursue legal action to ensure that the woman doesn't end up employed at a school again.
On the video, Carrillo says, "It's completely shocking to me that you are an assistant principal."
