VIDEO of San Diego's Fireworks FAIL Depicts Epic Explosion
The San Diego Fireworks Fail of 2012 will go down in history as an epic dud that blew six-figures worth of fireworks and aborted a planned, 15-minute showcase the likes of which the town has never seen (and still hasn't). It all went down in less than 30 seconds.
After the 4th of July mishap on San Diego Bay -- a story that echoed around the world -- disappointment was rampant. Finger-pointing went viral.
But a funny thing happened:
Although the pre-9 p.m. blast was brief, it was intense.
Viewers, in fact, were treated to something much more rare -- the sights and sounds of an unintentional explosion of fireworks at three barges and one pier that will probably remain unprecedented in contemporary times.
If you were there, you'll tell your grandchildren.
The glow lit of San Diego Bay like a nuclear blast. We're surprised visitors didn't get a sunburn.
One YouTube user (below) captured the rare glory in HD using a Canon 60D DSLR camera. It's the most amazing imagery of the beautiful failure yet.
If you were there, you were part of history. If not, check this out (and turn your volume down -- it's loud):
