(Video) 'Ask A Mexican' Vs. The Anti-Mexican: Who Won The Debate Between Gustavo Arellano And Tom Tancredo?
Random thought: If these guys would marry and combine their names, Antonio Villaraigosa-style, they could claim the surname Tancrellano. Just sayin.'
Gustavo Arellano is the original "¡Ask a Mexican!" guy. Former Congressman Tom Tancredo is the original anti-Mexican guy.
Tuesday night the two met in a debate billed as the intellectual version of Pacquiao vs. Margarito -- except this was a light-skinned Latino intellectual vs. a white-guy anti-illegal-immigrant politician.
So did the debate, organized by sister paper Westword in Colorado, live up to the hype?
Our bros over at OC Weekly, where Arellano works as managing editor, have posted some reaction from
reconquista Chicano cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz and brown basher Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist.
But if you want to really know what happened, you'll have to view the video for yourself (and you have to skip forward to the 37:00-minute mark, because we're alternative, and partially Mexican):
