Cops say a 33-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a driver who didn't stop in Venice overnight:
It happened at midnight today at Venice and Lincoln boulevards, police say. That's an area that was shut down by a reported suspicious-package scare Thursday afternoon.
A car headed west on Venice collided with the man as he tried to cross the street, cops said.
According to an LAPD statement:
The motorist continued westbound on Venice Boulevard, failing to stop and render aid or to identify himself. The impact of the collision caused the pedestrian to sustain life threatening injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The car was described as a darker vehicle, possibly a Toyota, with a woman who could have been white or Latina behind the wheel, the department says.
