UCLA scored well on U.S. News & World Report's annual list of the nation's best master's of business administration programs, which was released this morning as part of its the 2016 Best Graduate Schools rankings.

The Westwood university's Anderson School of Management ranked 15th in the nation and was the third-place public school behind No. 7 UC Berkeley and No. 11 Michigan.

UCLA fared even better for part-time graduate business programs. It ranked fifth and was the second-place public school behind Berkeley, which ranked first.

The rankings are produced, in part, this way, U.S. News & World Report explained:

The data come from statistical surveys sent to administrators at nearly 1,900 graduate programs and from reputation surveys sent to more than 13,700 academics and professionals in the disciplines.

UCLA, USC, Caltech and other area universities did well in the publication's evaluation of other U.S. graduate schools. UCLA made No. 13 on the list of top graduate education programs. USC ranked 15th.

Among top engineering schools, Caltech ranked fifth. USC came in 10th. UCLA made No. 14. And UCSD in San Diego ranked 17th.

For graduate health programs, UCLA topped the list of top clinical psychology specialties, while USC was first among occupational therapy and physical therapy disciplines.

UCLA has the 16th best law school in the nation, U.S. News & World Report says; USC ranked 20th. Loyola Marymount University's law school ranked 11th among part-time law programs.

Whittier College and Southwestern Law School (both 23 percent Latino) ranked among the law schools with the most diverse student bodies.

UCLA ranked 11th in the hyper-competitive world of medical schools. It came in 19th for nursing schools.

Phil Hampton, UCLA's director of media relations, told us this:

Regardless of methodology, UCLA and its individual professional schools and academic departments consistently perform well on a wide variety of rankings, reflecting UCLA’s stature among the world’s best universities.
