Two Young People Shot Outside Crenshaw High School
Two young people were shot and wounded in an attack right outside Crenshaw High School Wednesday afternoon, police said. One of the victims was a student whose condition was unknown. The other, a 19-year-old, was hospitalized in serious condition, said Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera told the Weekly.
The shooting in the 5000 block of South 11th Avenue was reported about 2 p.m., she said. The campus was put on "lock down" by police -- meaning students were not allowed to leave -- although it's not clear if they were eventually given the green light to exit. Herrera said no search for suspects in the immediate area was underway late Wednesday afternoon.
