City officials continued to urge calm in the wake of a third night of protests and minor unrest following the George Zimmerman not guilty verdict in Florida.
Mayor Eric Garcetti and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck planned a 2 p.m. press conference regarding the demonstrations:
Last night both the mayor and the top cop took to Twitter to ask folks to mellow out: LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman actually told parents to "text" their teens and tell them to get off the streets.

LAPD Officer Bruce Borihahn told us there were 14 arrests last night during unrest along Crenshaw Boulevard: 13 for alleged failure to disperse and 1 for suspicion of inciting a riot.

The L.A. Fire Department didn't have specific data on injuries but spokesman Brian Humphrey acknowledged this attack on KCAL / CBS Los Angeles reporter Dave Bryan and a camera operator, saying the victims sustained minor injuries.
During the night's festivities demonstrators stormed a Walmart at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza and appeared to assault one or two people outside a gas station at Crenshaw and Slauson Avenue.
