A man cops say has a lengthy record, including allegations of kidnapping and robbery, was named today as the main suspect in the shocking abduction of a Northridge girl earlier this week.
Tobias Dustin Summers is a 30-year-old, 160-pound white man on the loose, police said. He is believed to have taken the 10-year-old from from her Northridge bedroom early Wednesday and then held her for 12 hours, during which she was attacked, cops said:
He's described as having blond hair, blue eyes, close-cropped hair and tattoos. He's 6 feet tall. The LAPD said he was a transient in the area.
ABC Eyewitness News reported he had been arrested in recent months on an alleged probation violation but didn't spend long in custody.
According to the department, the girl went missing about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday when her mother heard a noise and realized she had been taken; she was dropped off at a Kaiser medical facility about 2:50 p.m., but she wandered to a nearby Starbucks where a man recognized her from news reports and phoned authorities.
That was about six miles from her home.
Cops believe she had been taken to a storage facility and perhaps other locations.
